Increase your chances in the lottery

This is my first blog on how to increase your chances on winning money in the lottery. First of all, winning the lottery is pure luck. There is no scientific way that you can consistently win or win large amounts of money in the lottery - it is pure luck.

That being stated - I am blogging on how you can increase your chances to win some money in the lottery. It is not necessarily meaning you will win big amounts of money, but just how you can win some money - maybe large amounts, mostly smaller amounts, but increase your chances on winning something.

I will blog about the Texas Lottery: Powerball, Mega Millions, Texas Two-Step, Cash Five and scratchoff tickets.

First, lets talk about lottery tickets - Powerball. Powerball tickets are $1.00. You can play the PowerPlay option for an additional $1.00 which will increase your non-grand jackpot winnings by 2, 3, 4 or 5 times. First you pick 5 numbers from 1 to 59. Then you pick the Powerball number from 1-39. You can either pick your numbers or do a quick pick. If you happen to pick the powerball number without any other numbers (depending on what powerplay number comes out or if you play the powerplay option) you can win 2, 3, 4 or 5 times the amount.

Minimum winnings with just the powerball is $3.00. If you play the powerplay option, your winnings can be $6, $9, $12 or $15.
Powerball number plus 1 number: $4.00. With powerplay option: $8, $12, $16, $20.
Powerball number plus 2 numbers: $7.00. With powerplay option: $14, $21, $28, $35.
3 numbers: $7. With powerplay option: $14, $21, $28, $35.
Powerball number plus 3 numbers: $100. With powerplay option: $200, $300, $400, $500.
4 numbers: $100. With powerplay option: $200, $300, $400, $500.
Powerball number plus 4 numbers: $10,000. With powerplay option: $20,000, $30,000 $40,000, $50,000.
5 numbers: $200,000. With powerplay option: $1,000,000*
Powerball with 5 numbers: Jackpot (whatever the jackpot is up to).

*Recently, the Texas Lottery Commission made a change if you hit five out of five numbers regardless of what the powerplay option (2, 3, 4 or 5) is. It is now $1,000,000.

Mega Millions is played similar to the Powerball. You pick 5 numbers from 1-56 then you pick the mega ball 1-46

Minimum winnings with just the mega ball is $2.00. If you play the mega ball option, your winnings can be $4, $6, $8.
Megaball number plus 1 number: $3.00. With megaball option: $6, $9, $12.
3 numbers: $7. With megaball option: $14, $21, $28.
Megaball number plus 2 numbers: $10.00. With megaball option: $20, $30, $40.
Megaball number plus 3 numbers: $150. With megaball option: $300, $450, $600.
4 numbers: $150. With megaball option: $300, $450, $600.
Megaball number plus 4 numbers: $10,000. With megaball option: $20,000, $30,000 $40,000.
5 numbers: $250,000. With megaball option: $1,000,000*
Megaball with 5 numbers: Jackpot (whatever the jackpot is up to).

This explains how the Powerball and Mega millions is played. My experience with these lotteries is the following. I generally play a set of 3 (bonus number, i.e., powerball number or mega ball number) and then 1 quick pick bonus number. The rest of the numbers (the 5 numbers you must choose) I just use quick picks. You can go to txlottery.org and you can see a list of the previous numbers chosen. You can also see a list of frequency of numbers that come out. If you like, you can go to the frequency list and check out the number of times a specific number has come out. Choose the numbers that come out most, this will give you an advantage to hit at least the bonus number and win something. Again, this is all just chance.

If you have a set of numbers you play, play those all the time. And I would add a quick pick so that you can have extra numbers to use and increase your chances.

My next blog I will talk about the Texas Two-Step and Cash Five.

Good luck.
